Testimonials for our Forest School Activities Online Training

If you work in education, sign up for one of Marina's courses!

I did my Forest School training with Marina in Hollywood, Co Wicklow, Ireland in 2017. I was 63 yrs young had just retired from 33 yrs of primary teaching and wished that I had known about Forest School Leader training earlier in my career. It would have empowered me with the confidence, conviction and tools to teach the curriculum by taking the classes outdoors. It would have not only brought maths, science, literacy etc to a level of internalization and understanding for both myself and the children, but more importantly our collective physical and mental welling would have been enhanced along with self regulation and respectful interrelationships among us all. So, I strongly advise that if you work in education, sign up for one of Marina's courses! Be inspired by her passion, excitement, reseach-backed programmes and meticilous attention to innovative ways and simple tools to make learning, the learner and the teacher come alive in the outdoors.

The impact it has had on the young children is extremely positive

We're Chloe and Christine and we've been Outdoor Teachers since May 2023 thanks to Marina and the Outdoor Teacher’s online course.

The Forest School Activities are well thought out and age appropriate, teaching the children about the amazing environment around them and how they can explore the natural environment in a fun but safe manner.

We have found the impact it has had on the young children is extremely positive, in terms of confidence, social skills, language, communication, motivation, physical skills, knowledge and understanding.

Marina shows you how it's done and also encourages you to find your own way.

The module activities are adaptable to meet the different needs of different people with the focus on having fun, being together, building skills and keeping safe. Marina shows you how it's done and also encourages you to find your own way. To learn how to "be" with nature is a wonderful thing. The cooking module is fantastic. Practical, adaptable, fun and safe. It also leaves you feeling very hungry!

It is brilliant and anyone can do it!

These nature awareness games give children of all ages an opportunity to tune into their senses. In the classroom we can spend time and money on creating sensory work; in the outdoors, with Marina's guidance, nature does a lot of the work for us. Marina's course teaches us games which we can use with children of all ages. It is brilliant and anyone can do it!

I can't wait to head outside and try some Nettle Pakoras

WOW! All of the films provided clear step by step instructions to ensure that practitioners feel confident with the stages of making with consideration given to health and safety, allergies and medical awareness, plant ID and how to adapt using different resources. I loved this module and can't wait to head outside and try some Nettle Pakoras. This has really given me 'food for thought' and made me feel so excited about the different ways to involve children with every element from gathering, plant identification, preparing, cooking and then considering how to show gratitude and give back to nature. Thank you Marina - another wonderful module.

Excellent forest school online modules that are brilliantly user friendly

Marina and her team have created the most excellent forest school online modules that are brilliantly user friendly. She approaches the tasks with passion and simplicity and the quote 'Fear replaced by knowledge' encompasses exactly the reason people are afraid to try foraging. Each stepped approach to gaining the information is clear and succinct with the overriding feeling of being right there in the outdoors. It made me want to go find the nettles in my garden and make some of those crisps!

You really don’t need lots of equipment to get started

Even after all the years I have been teaching outdoor learning and facilitating Forest School, it was great to be reminded of the power and simplicity of creative play and learning. Marina slowly builds upon simple ideas, layer by layer and the possibilities soon become limitless. What I also love about this module is that you really don’t need lots of equipment to get started as the idea is to inspire and see where it takes you. You really don’t have to be an artist to do this module... just a willingness to have a go!

Enlightening and packed full of useful information and ideas.

This was the most accessible way to complete forest school activity online training quickly. I had already completed a taster session and several outdoor adventure breaks with children but found that planning a sequential series of lessons for a diverse group was quite difficult and found your course to be enlightening and packed full of useful information and ideas.

Fantastic videos that have given me the knowledge to complete my Forest School training.

The course provided me with fantastic videos that have given me the knowledge to complete my Forest School training. They were delivered in a friendly and professional manner and Marina’s passion for what she does is clearly evident throughout. I'm putting it into practice immediately!

Our Forest School is very established in terms of the environment but getting really practical tips about delivering skills such as knot work is incredibly useful. Unless you practice those skills regularly, it is easy to lose confidence. I'm putting it into practice immediately. Most training courses inevitably require me to be out of school and because I cover PPA for teachers across all year groups every week, it is very tricky to get cover.

Affordable Online Training

We had a number of staff wanting to do the Outdoor Teacher’s Online Training, and not having the funding to train them all to the Level 3 standard, we wanted an affordable online option.

This course gave me the confidence in myself to be able to go out and give the children a great experience.

The course has given me the foundations for learning new skills. The videos are excellent and it was a pleasure to watch Marina give explanations and demonstrations which were easy to follow. Testimonials for our Advanced Certificate in Forest School Outdoor Learning

A truly enriching and meaningful experience

Attending the Advanced Certificate in Forest School & Outdoor Learning was a truly enriching and meaningful experience in my professional journey. It allowed me to deepen my knowledge of outdoor learning, which is already proving to be extremely valuable in the development of my project, “Bosque das Bolotas” — an innovative project within the context of public early childhood education in Portugal, aimed at promoting outdoor learning.

I particularly appreciated the quality of the videos and materials provided, as well as the clear, engaging, and inspiring way in which Marina delivered the content. Without a doubt, this course will contribute to the improvement of my pedagogical practice and to the consolidation of a more nature-connected approach.

Sara ConstantinoEarly Childhood Educator, Portugal

The module was like having a friend on hand to reassure the ‘have you remembered everything’ voice

I have thoroughly enjoyed the course, particularly the Fire & Pedagogy module. It’s been inspiring to take what I’ve learned from my scouting experience, many years of art teaching and apply it creatively in the nursery setting. The module was like having a friend on hand to reassure the ‘have you remembered everything’. Especially when working as the leader therefore feeling ‘solo’ and building a community.  I appreciate the ability to dip in and out of the modules as you provide me with reassurance.

The Advanced Certificate is full of resources and ideas

I wanted to thank you for your work and for the material you've put together, making it so easily accessible. The Advanced Certificate is full of resources and ideas. When I made the decision to explore the concept of a Forest School, I visited your website and was delighted to see the information and packs all there.  It's been a few years since I took the Forest School Training Level 3, and I had lost confidence in carrying out the activities. So, to have all the information at my fingertips is very reassuring.

Mary MitchellEarly Years Specialist, Co Kildare

Reignited my passion for teaching

This course, along with Marina's books, have reignited my passion for teaching. The course also offered lots of practical ideas and activities that could actually be used in practice, and that's not always present in courses. Also, having the curriculum-linked examples and risk assessments has been super useful. Attending a Level 3 course in person and taking time off work would have been challenging.

I love the easy to follow structure of the course

It's given me a bit of 'oomph' as a practitioner

I work in a primary school running Forest School and outdoor learning sessions from reception all the way up to year six, and I'm really enjoying this course. I'm finding the masterclasses brilliant, really informative, providing information and embedding theories that you may have come across already in your training. I feel that it's given me a bit of 'oomph' as a practitioner, and making me connect with the sort of practitioner that I'd like to be. The activity suggestions are fantastic alongside the session plans that give ways of extending each activity with further ideas and links to the curriculum. It's brilliant!

Jenny FludeForest School Leader, Northamptonshire

I love that it follows the seasons

I did my level 3 training with Marina about five years ago and I've been a practising Forest School leader ever since. I was absolutely delighted to see the online Advanced Certificate in Forest School and Outdoor Learning, and I'm finding it extremely useful in both early years and with the older children. I love that it follows the seasons so everything can be immediately put into your plans and themes. I also love that because it's online, you can go backwards and forwards. So if you need to review something, you can go back and have a look. And if you need to skip something, you can, and go back at a later date to have a look. I would highly recommend the course!

Lots of new things to try out

I work at Seven Lochs Wetland Park for the Conservation Volunteers. I really enjoyed doing this course following on from my Forest School training and it's been a real great bonus for giving me some extra ideas. I felt I'd got a little bit stale in what I'd been offering, doing the same things over and over again, and it's given me lots of new things to do, particularly some great new cooking ideas. I've had a go at pancakes again and various bits and pieces done a bit of birch tapping this year, so that's been great fun. I'm really looking forward to giving the 'cakes in a tin' a go. Lots of new things to try out and looking forward to the new summer activities that have just been released.

Claire BradySenior Project Officer, The Conservation Volunteers, Glasgow,

It's absolutely jam packed with everything you need

I've been an avid fan of Marina Robb since I started this journey, and I have to say her work has never disappointed, so it was a no brainer for me to enrol on the Advanced Certificate in Forest School and Outdoor Learning. It's absolutely jam packed with everything you need. There's lesson plans, activities, videos, explanations, and even goes into into depth about the wellbeing benefits for mental health, which I find absolutely amazing. So, yes, I would highly recommend this course. You don't need anything else, in fact, I'd say it's two courses in one.

It is a fantastic resource and I highly recommend it

I'm a lecturer at the Atlantic Technological University in Donegal in the Republic of Ireland, and have been completing the Advanced Certificate in Forest School and Outdoor Learning. It is a fantastic resource and I highly recommend it to anyone who practices in outdoor environments, and also for those who would like to lead groups in the outdoors in the future. Well done to all the team involved.

Majella McBrideLecturer, Department of Early Education and Social Studies, Atlantic Technological University, Donegal

The videos are very accessible and the information presentation is ideal

I work in a large Primary School as the outdoor learning lead, and I'm currently 80% of the way through the spring section of the Advanced Certificate, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The videos are very accessible, the information presentation is ideal. The combination of the need to hit targets for curriculum, whilst also looking at the forest school approach is perfect for me in my role, as we are an amalgamation between outdoor learning and Forest School. I thoroughly recommend the course and would advise anybody that gets the opportunity to go for it, and the lifetime access is brilliant.
